This ensemble/course is for dedicated and able musicians with an interest in jazz improvisation. The focus of the program includes developing the skills and understanding necessary to perform in the jazz idiom. Emphasis will be placed on aural musicianship and the analysis of representative songs and artists. Class structure is performance based. Each semester will culminate in a public performance featuring large and small groups, and original compositions. Topics will include:

Rehearsals are held on Sundays, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM in the School of Music, Theatre & Dance E.V. Moore Building, Room 2058.

*All dress rehearsals and concerts will be held in Stamps Auditorium: 1226 Murfin Ave; Ann Arbor, Michigan. Performances are free and open to the public, with no tickets required; we welcome and encourage family and friends to attend.
