The audition will be WAIVED for Summer 2009 bassoonists who wish to return in 2010. The application and application fee are still required and should be submitted by February 15.
February 15: Priority deadline for receipt of all application materials, including the recorded audition, application, application fee, and teacher recommendation (optional). Applications may be accepted after the deadline if there are openings. Click here for current information regarding openings.
Decision letters will be mailed by March 30. Sorry, no decisions will be given by phone or email.
Submit a 3-5 minute long CD recorded audition of one or more pieces, with or without accompaniment (for example, a piece performed at Solo and Ensemble Festival, an etude, or an excerpt from something being played at school). Label your CD and its jacket/case with your name, instrument, title and composer of your piece, and the session to which you are applying.
RECOMMENDATION (Optional)
You may have one of your current music teachers (school teacher or private teacher) assess your work in a letter of recommendation. In addition to your musical abilities, the letter may discuss your personal characteristics such as initiative, dependability, and your commitment to increasing your musical skills. The letter should be included with your application in a sealed envelope (with the teacher's signature across the back seal).
