A student-run, week-long music festival will celebrate the music and musicians who blend Western classical traditions with those from Hispanic-Latino culture, Jan. 29--Feb. 4.
SMTD has partnered with the Gershwin family to bring the music of George and Ira Gershwin to students, scholars, performers and audiences across campus and worldwide.
Voices Valiant is a vocal music ensemble at the University of Michigan for adults over the age of 50.
This chorus is designed for adults who:
Voices Valiant will rehearse in three cycles in 2016-17: Fall Cycle, Winter Cycle, and Spring Cycle. Each cycle consists of approximately 10 rehearsals and a performance. Whether you have experience reading music and singing in a choir, or if this is your first choral experience, you will enjoy being a member of this unique group.

We encourage membership to be an annual commitment in order to support ensemble balance, and to build on ensemble skills. However, participants may sign up at any time. Participants are given the option to attend for one cycle only, for any two cycles, or to sign up for the entire year.
No audition is required. No prior music experience is required.
Am I eligible to sing with Voices Valiant?
Voices Valiant membership is open to all singers 50 years and better. Singers of all skill level (first-time choir singers and experienced vocalists) are welcome in Voices Valiant.
Do I need to be able to read music to sing with Voices Valiant?
You do not need to be able to read music to be in Voices Valiant, but the ability to read music is a great asset in learning the songs. If you do not read music, you may want to initially bring a recording device to rehearsals to record your part while we rehearse.
What kind of music does Voices Valiant sing?
Voices Valiant’s mission is to enjoy learning through choral music. This allows us to draw repertoire from a wide range of sources, including:
Will Voices Valiant perform?
Voices Valiant has three performance cycles: Fall, Winter, and Spring. Each cycle includes approximately 10 rehearsals and a concert. Voices Valiant also supports community singing, so every concert will include an audience sing along. Concerts will be on Saturdays at 2:00 PM at Earl V. Moore Building on U-M Campus. We also may schedule additional (and optional) community outreach concerts.
Is the rehearsal space handicap accessible?
Yes, Liberty School is handicap accessible. In addition, there is ample parking.
