Choral Conducting Symposium

Description

This workshop is devoted to the enhancement of beautiful and communicative choral singing. Sessions on rehearsal techniques, Dalcroze, male and female voice techniques, African music, compelling performances, voice placement, score study, and movement will take place during the Symposium. Students will conduct in class and be videotaped to aid in the evaluation of their work. Reading sessions of new repertoire will take place daily as well as practical opportunities for workshop participants.

Materials

Purchase and prepared prior to arrival:

Please be prepared to conduct the "Gloria" from the Mozart Coronation Mass, and Movement I of the Bernstein Chichester Psalms on Monday of the Symposium. Scores may be purchased at Musical Resources 800 377-0234 or by clicking on the direct ordering links embedded above.

Please bring:

  • DVD-R (for recording sessions)
  • Baton
