Choral Conducting Symposium

This workshop is devoted to the enhancement of beautiful and communicative choral singing. Sessions on rehearsal techniques, Dalcroze, male and female voice techniques, African music, compelling performances, voice placement, score study, and movement will take place during the Symposium. Students will conduct in class and be videotaped to aid in the evaluation of their work. Reading sessions of new repertoire will take place daily as well as practical opportunities for workshop participants.

Purchase and prepared prior to arrival:

  • Mozart: Requiem (Süssmayr/Bärenreiter edition); prepare to conduct the "Introitus/Requiem" or the "Dies irae" for Monday

Professional Development/Academic Credit

The Choral Conducting Symposium may be taken as part of the Master of Music in Music Education degree program, for Summer graduate credit (NCFD) or for professional development without college credit.  (Course Code: CONDUCT 507.412)
