Beyond the Basics: Extending Music Literacy Skills Through Kodály Concepts

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

This workshop will help music educators bring depth to the concepts already being taught in their music classes through the use of relative solemnization and beat-function rhythm syllables, as well as sequentially developed lesson planning.  Topics will include a developmental part-work sequence, materials and ideas for extending the recorder sequence to upper-grade students, and age-appropriate listening lessons for many melodic and rhythmic concepts.

              This workshop has been approved by the State of Michigan to offer SB-CEU’s.

              Total Number of CEU: 2.1

GRADUATE CREDIT:

Graduate credit is available.  The Beyond the Basics: Extending Music Literacy Skills Through Kodály Concepts workshop may be taken for 2 credits (graduate level) through the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance and transferred to another institution’s graduate program.
