The Art of the Orchestra Teacher: Playing Skills, Teaching Strategies, Diagnostics for Young Players, Rehearsal Techniques, and Podium Management

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The 'Art of the Orchestra Teacher' workshop format will be a laboratory/lecture format dealing with the factors effecting quality of instruction. Topics will include Teaching from the Podium, Speed Learning Motion Games, Diagnostic Activities Enabling Strong Pedagogic Development of Skills, Non Verbal Teaching Skills, and Development of Chamber Music Skills for the Large Orchestral Ensemble and others. Assessment process will include video analysis, peer review, reflection writing and faculty dialogue.
CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS:
This workshop has been approved by the State of Michigan to offer SB-CEU’s.

GRADUATE CREDIT:
Graduate credit is available. The 'Art of the Orchestra Teacher' workshop may be taken for 2 credits (graduate level) through the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance and transferred to another institution’s graduate program.
