DESCRIPTION:
This workshop is designed to give band, orchestra, choir and general music teachers practical knowledge in the basics of music technology. Topics will include a little history and nuts and bolts of how the various systems work, how to set up electronics in the classroom and on stage to enhance lessons and record performances, the format and assignments for a music technology class, and an introduction to Finale and Sibelius music notation software. Focus will be on practical lessons and advice to assist both the veteran educator who may be intimidated by equipment and terms and the young teacher trying to incorporate modern technology in their classrooms. The workshop will be lead by veteran music educator Joseph DeMarsh, orchestra director at Ann Arbor Tappan Middle School.
