Trumpets have been part of the human experience, sacred and secular, practical and profound, since the earliest days of civilization. With representations spanning four millennia, and actual antique instruments dating as far back as 1689, this collection of eighteen pivotal examples with illustrative documents and images, highlights the historical, technical, and cultural transformation of these ancient instruments as well as their transformation of us.

The U-M Chamber Choir will embark on a three-week tour of Australia and New Zealand beginning July 4, and perform a "bon voyage" concert in Detroit on June 30.
