ORIENTATION INFORMATION

Welcome Class of 2012!  Classes begin Tuesday, September 2, 2008.

Freshman Orientation

Orientation for undergraduate students is coordinated through the Office of New Student Programs (ONSP).  Once your enrollment deposit is credited to your account, you will receive information from ONSP which will include details about how to register for your orientation session on-line.  You must register and receive confirmation from ONSP in order to participate in registration.

During the three-day program students complete the necessary procedures for class registration, including placement exams and academic advising.  The afternoon of Day 2 and morning of Day 3 are spent with the SMTD Admissions and Student Services staff, advisors and current music students.

You must attend an orientation session in order to register for classes. Attending Summer Orientation is highly recommended!  If you are absolutely unable to attend a summer session, you must plan to arrive early and attend Fall Orientation.  

Parent Orientation

Throughout the summer, ONSP also offers two-day Parent Orientation programs to familiarize parents with the student experience at the University of Michigan.  On the morning of Day 2 of these sessions, parents will meet with a SMTD Admissions staff member and discuss their student's degree requirements, Fall class schedules, and other topics of interest.  For more information, contact ONSP.

Request for Private Lessons

Every student that takes a private lesson for credit must fill out the online request form.
