APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Deadlines

Because of limited enrollment, all applications should be submitted as early as possible. Applications and audition requests received too close to the audition date may not be honored. Once all openings in a specific program have been filled, the program will be closed and all subsequent applications will be returned. If you have questions regarding specific closings, call the Associate Dean’s Office at the School of Music 734/764-0590.

Fall Term
December 1: Application deadline for Composition, Composition/Music Theory, Conducting, Media Arts, Music Education, and Performance

January 1: Dance

January 2: Application deadline for Music Theory
January 15: Application deadline for Musicology and Ethnomusicology, and Theatre
February 26: The date by which the audition, interview, and/or portfolio review must be completed (and all other application materials submitted) in order to be eligible for merit-based financial awards.

Winter Term
September 15: Application deadline for Music Performance, except for the piano programs (all other curricula do not accept applications for the Winter Term).

Each admitted student will receive specific instructions from the Rackham Graduate School on how to declare via the web their intention to enroll. The deadline to respond on-line is April 15. The Rackham Graduate School will then contact the department with your response.
