Jazz Festival Overview
The 2008 University of Michigan Jazz Festival is a noncompetitive event providing collegiate and high school students an opportunity for increased experience and understanding of American jazz. All participating students will have interaction with the internationally acclaimed Clayton Brothers Quintet, the music faculty of the University of Michigan and other professional jazz musicians and distinguished educators. The Festival is open to students, educators and music lovers of all ages. It is presented by the School of Music, Theatre & Dance through the Department of Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation with support from numerous academic units within the University of Michigan. It is recognized by educators and professional jazz artists as a quality presentation, appropriately representing the American art of jazz.
