Professor Biza began his dance-choreography career in 1970 with the Ballet Damar and the Congololese National Dance Company in Brazzaville, Congo. He toured extensively throughout France, Belgium and Germany with Ballet-Theatre Kodia and the Ballet Lemba, Congolese dance troupes based in Pads. Mr. Sompa is a dance instructor and choreographer of African Dance and founder of Cichini Bia Congo Dance Theatre. In addition to teaching, Mr. Sompa facilitates workshops, lectures and demonstrations. He and his dance troupe travel to elementary and high schools throughout the country using African Dance as a cultural learning tool to educate and motivate young children. A well-traveled African dance instructor, mentor and role-model, Mr. Sompa currently is working on an after-school program for inner city youth that will afford them the opportunity to learn about dance, music, culture and history.
