Ms. Goolian is editor of Music @ Michigan, the alumni magazine for the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. She comes from a long line of Michigan grads, including both her parents. (Her father earned his bachelor’s, ’42, and master’s, ’46, in piano performance at the School of Music, Theatre & Dance, studying with Joseph Brinkman.)

Ms. Goolian has worked in and around universities most of her adult life, starting with the English Department at the U-M right after graduation. In 1974, she moved to Seattle, where she worked for the University of Washington for 15 years in various departments, including the Jackson School of International Studies, the Foreign Study Department, and the Department of History, mostly in the arena of publications and events.  She left the UW in 1991 and worked for six years at University Unitarian Church in Seattle.

After twenty-five years in the Pacific Northwest, Betsy and her husband moved back to their roots in southeastern Michigan to be closer to family. She and her husband, Cougas Jones, are the proud parents of a wirehaired dachshund named Chumleigh.
