Christi-Anne Castro graduated from Yale University and earned her doctoral degree in ethnomusicology from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her dissertation and subsequent publications have dealt with various aspects of music, nationalism, and cultural politics in the Philippines. In addition, Dr. Castro has long been interested in the musical expressions of Filipino Americans – and Asian Americans in general – and the complex relationships between performance, identity, and politics.
Dr. Castro has received a number of grants and fellowships to further her research and was recently awarded an honorable mention for the Woodrow Wilson Junior Faculty Enhancement Award.
