Ron Torrella is a research assistant and paralegal at the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. In addition to providing administrative support to faculty in the research grant application process, Mr. Torrella also provides legal support, specializing in copyright law, for the Internet Publication Project and the University's record label, Block M Records.

Before embarking on a new career in May 2005, Mr. Torrella enjoyed a successful career as a university piano technician with appointments at Michigan State University, The Wichita State University, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Michigan. He maintains a limited private practice as a piano technician.

A classically trained pianist (UC-CCM, B.Mus. in piano performance, '83) Mr. Torrella occasionally presents solo and chamber recitals on harpsichord, fortepiano, and the modern piano. His leisure pursuits include reading, bat house building & installation, running, road and mountain biking, and building & piloting radio-controlled aircraft.

Mr. Torrella is currently the SoMTD's Wellness Champion for the Michigan Healthy Community Initiative.
