Ms. Auletti has a joint appointment working for University Productions as the Charge Scenic Artist and as Adjunct Lecturer in Theatre for the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Toni organizes, schedules, and runs two painting studios on campus: a large shop in the Power Centre and our brand-new studio in the Walgreen Drama Centre. In addition to being responsible for putting paint on the five shows produced each semester, Toni serves as a professional mentor, teaching Scenic Painting, and training people to become better painters, artisans and the like. A day on the job includes working along side students to direct them towards realizing the Scene Designers’ vision.
Toni holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Technical Theatre from Wayne State University, and a Masters of Fine Arts in Scene Design from the University of Michigan. She has 20+ years of technical theatre experience. Her passion for Scene Design and Scenic Artistry motivate her thorough her daily shop operations.
Outside the University, Toni served as Charge Artist for several productions at Jeff Daniels' Theatre, The Purple Rose, in Chelsea; in addition, she’s been hired by corporations such as Ford Motor Co. and The Detroit Institute of Arts. She has designed many sets for Wild Swan Theatre Company, and worked with Pioneer Theatre Guild designing and painting sets. She also has been recognized for her murals as well as her children’s book illustrations. Toni lives in rural Dexter with her fabulous husband Mark Gentry.
