AUDITIONS & INTERVIEWS

Undergraduate Requirements and Dates

Requirements for all organ applicants: Prepare fifteen to twenty minutes of organ literature that you have studied thoroughly. The department suggests your audition include a work of J. S. Bach and a romantic or contemporary composition. Choose pieces that you and your current teacher consider to be within your present musical and technical grasp. Memorization is neither required nor discouraged. Before the audition, you will have an opportunity to become acquainted with the organ you will be playing. In certain cases, students may be admitted who have had no organ study but have a strong background in piano. In such individual cases, a full piano audition is permitted instead of an organ audition.

Applicants to the Bachelor of Music in Performance with Teacher Certification (Curriculum B) will also be scheduled for an interview with a representative of the Department of Music Education.
