I think U-M is turning out the best young musical theatre performers in the business these days. They’re really well-rounded and well-educated actors, not just people who can sing and dance.

HIGHLIGHTS

Note:  This listing is by no means complete.  These examples are merely highlights of the activities of the graduates.  This list doesn’t include the countless workshops, readings, and industrials in which the graduates appear, and does not include all of their regional theatre and television work.

Emily Albrink (04) will make her Kentucky Opera debut this fall as Adina in L'Elisir d'Amore.  She performed with the Washington National Opera as Frasquita in CARMEN with Denyce Graves, conducted by Julius Rudel.  Emily also played Despina in COSI FAN TUTTE at Tanglewood, conducted by James Levine.

Andrew Arrington (07) is currently in THE LION KING in Las Vegas.  He was in HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS in Boston last winter, along with another Michigan graduate, Andrew Keenan-Bolger (07).

Mark Ayesh (10) recently played Roger in RENT at the Westchester Broadway Theatre. 

Stanley Bahorek (03) just finished playing Mozart in AMADEUS at the Alley Thetre.  Stanley played Candide in CANDIDE at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in Seattle.  He had a leading role in [title of show] at the Arizona Theatre Company this winter.  Last summer he played Jack in INTO THE WOODS at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, along with Brynn O’Malley as the Baker’s Wife and Hunter Foster as the Baker.  Stanley played Leaf Coneybear in the San Francisco and Boston companies of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, receiving a nomination for Best Supporting Actor by the Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle.   Stanley later joined the Broadway company of SPELLING BEE, again in the role of Leaf Coneybear.

Courtney Balan (00) starred in THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES off-Broadway.  She recently appeared on Broadway in CRY-BABY.  Courtney performed off-Broadway in I LOVE YOU BECAUSE and the long-running I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE, as well as playing Ado Annie in OKLAHOMA! at the Oklahoma Lyric Theatre.  Courtney was the standby on Broadway for TITLE OF SHOW.

Jenni Barber (05) was recently in CACTUS FLOWER off –Broadway.  Jenni played Audrey/Iris in The Bridge Project staging of Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT at the Brooklyn Academy of Music directed by Sam Mendes, touring Asia and Europe before opening in London at The Old Vic last summer.  Jenni played the role of Olive Ostrovsky in the San Francisco and Boston companies of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, and she later joined the Broadway company of SPELLING BEE, again in the role of Olive Ostrovsky.  She was a regular in the PBS series THE ELECTRIC COMPANY.

Whitney Bashor (05) played Clara in THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA recently at Theatreworks in Palo Alto.  She also played the role at the Philadelphia Theatre Company, for which she received a Barrymore Award.  Whitney played Luisa in the revival of THE FANTASTICKS off-Broadway, directed by the playwright/lyricist Tom Jones.

Katy Basile (04) is in the national tour of LES MISERABLES.  Katy recently finished the Broadway run of THE LITTLE MERMAID.  Katie was an understudy on Broadway for two roles in THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE.  She recently completed a long run in the national tour of MAMMA MIA.   Last summer she appeared in FOOTLOOSE at the Muny in St. Louis.

Joel Bauer (07) played Maximillian in CANDIDE last fall at the Arden Theatre in Philadelphia.  

 

David Baum (04) is currently on Broadway in MARY POPPINS.  David performed in DAMN YANKEES at the Encores City Center summer series in New York, as well as appeared in the MTV movie THE AMERICAN MALL.  David was in the original cast of the revival of A CHORUS LINE on Broadway.  Before that he was in the Boston company of WHITE CHRISTMAS.

Etai Benshlomo (09) Is currently playing Bog on Broadway after a long run in the San Francisco company of WICKED in the same role.  Etai recently played Dwayne in the workshop of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE by James Lapine and William Finn at the Sundance Festival in White Oak, Florida.

Tommy Berklund (05) is currently in THE ADDAMS FAMILY on Broadway.  Tommy was in the new Alan Menken/Glenn Slater musical LEAP OF FAITH this past fall at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles.  Tommy played Greg in the revival of A CHORUS LINE on Broadway.  He appeared last year on the Academy Awards, and at Houston’s Theatre Under the Stars in MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS. 

Ryan Binder (01) played Doody in the Broadway production of GREASE.  Before that, he was in the national tour of MAMMA MIA. 

Danny Binstock (06) appeared in the Andy Warhol-inspired musical POP! at the Yale Repertory Theatre last fall.  Danny played the title role in THE BOY IN THE BUBBLE directed by Oskar Eustis at the American Musical Theatre Project in Evanston, IL, as well as appearing in MY FAIR LADY at the Signature Theatre in Washington, D.C.  Danny is currently in the Yale graduate acting program.

Nick Blaemire (06) played a leading role in the new musical BRING IT ON at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta.  Nick recently was on Broadway in CRY-BABY.  His new musical GLORY DAYS played on Broadway and the original cast recording is now available on Ghostlight Records and on ITunes.  Before that he had a long run as Abraham in the national tour of ALTAR BOYZ.  Nick was in MRS. MILLER DOES HER THING, written and directed by James Lapine, at the Vineyard Playhouse on Cape Cod.

Ashley Blanchett (09) is currently on Broadway in MEMPHIS.

Emily Bottorff (07) recently appeared in BARNUM at the Asolo Theatre in Sarasota, choreographed by MT graduate Josh Rhodes (93).

Todd Buonopane (00) is playing Nicely-Nicely in GUYS AND DOLLS at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in Seattle.  Todd played Roger on Broadway in the revival GREASE.  Last summer Todd played Mr. Snow in CAROUSEL at the Barrington (MA) Stage Company.  Todd was the understudy for 4 roles in the Broadway production of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, having performed over 150 performances.

David Burtka (97) appeared in RENT this summer at the Hollywood Bowl.  David played Tulsa in the Broadway revival of GYPSY with Bernadette Peters and can be heard on the cast album on Angel Records.  He has appeared on the CBS series “How I Met Your Mother.”

Gavin Creel (98) recently starred in PROMETHEUS BOUND, a new rock musical with libretto by Stever Sater premiering at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, MA.  Gavin starred on Broadway and in London as Claude in HAIR (Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical).  Gavin appeared for over a year as Bert in the London production of MARY POPPINS.   He received a Tony nomination for THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, and also appeared on Broadway in the revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES.

Jim Daly (98) is an agent with BLOC ARTISTS in New York City.   

 

Jeremy Davis (99) was in the national tour of SOUTH PACIFIC.  He recently finished a lengthy run on Broadway in NINE TO FIVE.  Before that he was on Broadway in SOUTH PACIFIC at Lincoln Center.  He recently completed a long run on Broadway and on tour in DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS.

Erin Dilly (94) can be seen in recent episodes on both "Law & Order: SVU" and "Criminal Intent".  Erin played Judith Jones in the film JULIE AND JULIA.  She starred in CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG (Tony nomination) and also appeared on Broadway as Cinderella in INTO THE WOODS.

Janine DiVita (07) is starring as Elizabeth in the national tour of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.  Janine recently finished a long run in SOPHISTICATED LADIES at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.  Janine played Rizzo in GREASE on Broadway.   Last summer she played Little Edie Beale in GRAY GARDENS at Portland Center Stage, and then Nancy in OLIVER! at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, for which she received a Barrymore Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical.

Ted Ely (08) is in the national tour of WEST SIDE STORY, understudying Tony.  Ted played Boq in the new national tour of WICKED.

Marjorie Failoni (08) is currently in the national tour of NINE TO FIVE.   Marjorie spent the last year as dance captain of the national tour of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.  She was also the Dance Captain and Assistant Choreographer of the world premiere of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 at Atlanta’s Theatre of the Stars.

Liz Filios (05) recently appeared in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE at the Arden Theatre in Philadelphia.  Liz also played Cunegonde in CANDIDE at the Arden Theatre.  Also appearing in the production were two other Michigan graduates, Joel Bauer (07) as Maximiiliam and Nick Gaswirth (06).  Liz received a Barrymore Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for her work as the narrator in JOSEPH… DREAMCOAT at the Devon Theatre in Philadelphia.

Barrett Foa (99) is featured as Eric in the popular CBS series NCIS – Los Angeles.  Barrett starred on Broadway as Princeton/ Rod in AVENUE Q, as well as THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, in the role of Leaf Coneybear.   On television Barrett recently had major roles in THE CLOSER and ENTOURAGE.

Hunter Foster (92) recently starred in LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE at the LaJolla Playhouse.  Hunter is playing legendary record producer Sam Phillips in the Broadway musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET.  Hunter starred in HAPPINESS at Lincoln Center, directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, and on Broadway in THE PRODUCERS as Leo Bloom, a role he played periodically for several years.  He played Seymous on Broadway in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (Tony nomination) and Bobby Strong in URINETOWN.  Hunter wrote the libretto for the musical SUMMER OF ’42.

Nick Gabriel (02) played Michael/Mouse in the A.C.T. workshop of TALES OF THE CITY  in San Francisco.

Nick Gaswirth (06) was in JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH at the Goodspeed Opera House.

Alexander Gemignani (01) is currently in THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE on Broadway.  Alex played Andrei in Chekhov’s THREE SISTERS at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park last fall, directed by John Doyle.  He played the Boatman in the Broadway revival of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE.  In recent Broadway revivals Alex played Jean Valjean in LES MISERABLES, the Beadle in SWEENEY TODD, and John Hinckley in ASSASSINS.  He also starred in Sondheim’s ROAD SHOW at the Public Theatre in New York. 

Susan Grady (98) recently toured China, South Korea, and other Far East countries in 42nd STREET.  

Kelcy Griffin (09) was recently in the national tour of DREAMGIRLS.  

Danny Gurwin (94) played Ravenal in SHOW BOAT at the St. Louis Muny last summer.  Danny teaches at AMDA in Los Angeles.  His recent Broadway credits include Laurie in LITTLE WOMEN and Malcolm MacGregor in THE FULL MONTY.   Last summer he played Seymour in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Music Theatre West, and he appeared in HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS at the Pantages in Los Angeles.

Laurel Harris (06) is understudying Elphaba in the national tour of WICKED. 

Robert Hartwell (09) is currently on Broadway in MEMPHIS after a year of touring with DREAMGIRLS.

Bethany Heinrich (06) was recently on Broadway in THE MERCHANT OF VENICE with Al Pacino.

Laura Heisler (97) recently guest starred on "Bones," "Numb3rs," "The Middle," and "Ugly Betty."   She won a Drama League Award for her role in KIN at Playwrights Horizons.  Laura made her Broadway debut in CORAM BOY. 

Leslie Henstock (02) was the understudy for Clara in the national tour of THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA.  She had a lengthy run as Cosette in the national tour of LES MISERABLES.

Jessica Hershberg (08) was in the national tour of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRARIE (along with 3 other UM graduates) and was recently in JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH at the Goodspeed Opera House.

Adam Hess (97) is general manager of the Daryl Roth Theatre off-Broadway.

 

Brian Hissong (04) recently  played Sky Masterson in GUYS AND DOLLS at the Marriott-Lincolnshire in Chicago.  Brian appeared in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE at the Arden Theatre in Philadelphia.  Brian also played a leading role in the new musical WINESBURG, OHIO at the Arden Theatre, for which he won a Barrymore Award.  He toured as Tony in WEST SIDE STORY in Japan, and Thailand, and in Europe.  He played John Truitt in MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS at the Paper Mill Playhouse opposite another graduate, Brynn O’Malley (03), along with Dani Spieler and Tommy Berklund, and reprised his role at Houston’s Theatre Under the Stars.

Rachel Hoffman (99) is currently a casting associate in the New York office of Bernard Telsey. 

Anne Horak (06) played Inga in the national tour of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.  Anne played Rita in WHITE CHRISTMAS on Broadway, and was in OKLAHOMA! at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey, as well as MUSIC IN THE AIR at the Encores City Center Series.  

David Hull (07) is understudying Daniel Radcliffe in the Broadway revival of HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. WICKED.  David played Mark in the national tour of A CHORUS LINE, after a lengthy run in WICKED tour as well as in the Broadway company of WICKED. 

Eric Jackson (00) was in the revival tour of DREAMGIRLS.  Eric was in the Broadway production in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN as well as in the Irish Rep production of FINIAN’S RAINBOW, and he can be heard on the cast recordings.

Andrew Keenan-Bolger (07) is playing Robertson Ay on Broadway in MARY POPPINS, a role he also did on the national tour.  Andrew recently appeared in a revised version of IT’S A BIRD, IT’S A PLANE, IT’S SUPERMAN in Dallas.  Andrew played the role of Leaf Coneybear in the national tour of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE.  He toured with HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS.

Celia Keenan-Bolger (00) was in PETER AND THE STARCATCHER at the New York Theatre Workshop.  Celia  received rave reviews in the new play BACHELORETTE last summer off-Broadway.  Celia played Mary in the new musical SAVED (based on the 2004 film) at Playwrights Horizons.  She appeared last spring at Encores City Center with Victoria Clark in JUNO.  Celia created the role of Olive Ostrovsky in THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, for which she received a Tony nomination.   She also performed on Broadway as Eponine in the revival of LES MISERABLES.  Celia originated the role of Clara in THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA at the Intiman Theatre in Seattle and at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago.

Marc Kessler (94) was in ELF on Broadway during the holiday season.  Marc was responsible for the original concept of ALTAR BOYZ, now playing off-Broadway, with a score composed by another Michigan graduate, Gary Adler.   Marc was a long-time member of the Manhattan Rhythm Kings.

Justin Keyes (06) is currently in the Broadway revival of HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, understudying Daniel Radcliffe.  Justin recently played Benny in RENT at the Westchester Broadway Theatre.  Justin was in the national tour of MARY POPPINS, leaving that to do the new musical GIVE IT UP at the Dallas Theatre Center.  Justin was in HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey last fall, and before that, the national tour of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE playing Chip Tolentino, and THE APPLE TREE on Broadway.

Bruce Kiesling (95) is conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s YOLA orchestra training program. He also serves as music director of the Tulare County Symphony in Visalia, California.  Bruce was music director for the Reprise production of THEY’RE PLAYING OUR SONG, starring Jason Alexander.

Lizzie Klemperer (09) was in the national tour of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRARIE, along with Kate Loprest, Garen McRoberts and Jessica Herschberg

Ian Knauer (90) was recently on Broadway in MAMMA MIA! after several years in the national tour.  Ian recently played Munkustrap in CATS at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Rooster in ANNIE at the St. Louis MUNY, Billy Lawyer in 42ND STREET at Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Frank Butler at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina in Hilton Head, and in AND THE WORLD GOES ROUND at the Westchester Broadway Theatre.

Chelsea Krombach (05) was on Broadway in PROMISES, PROMISES.  She had a long run in WICKED, understudying Elphaba, a role she played numerous times.   Later this fall she will be in JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH at the Goodspeed Opera House.

Max Kumangai (08) is playing Richie in the Lincolnshire Marriott production of A CHORUS LINE this fall.  Max was in the Encores concert production of ANYONE CAN WHISTLE and WHERE’S CHARLEY?

Doug LaBrecque (88) is appearing with orchestras throughout the world as a featured soloist in pops concerts.  Highlights of his 2009 – 10 season include performances with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Utah Symphony, Prague Music Festival, Minnesota Orchestra, NJ Symphony and the Rochester Philharmonic (Soloist/host Christmas Pops, directing and producing South Pacific in Concert).  Doug has performed numerous times with such orchestras as the San Francisco Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the National Symphony at the Kennedy Center, and the Israel Philharmonic, along with countless others.  Doug appeared on Broadway as Ravenal in SHOW BOAT, as well as playing both the Phantom and Raoul in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA in Toronto.

Bryan Langlitz (’09) is currently on Broadway in MEMPHIS.  He toured nationally this past year in A CHORUS LINE. 

Jeremy Leiner (03) played Angel in RENT last summer at the Weston Playhouse in Vermont.

Andrew Lippa (87) wrote music and lyrics for the current Broadway hit THE ADDAMS FAMILY.  Andrew wrote music for Aaron Sorkin’s new play THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION.  Andrew won the Drama Desk Award for best music for his musical THE WILD PARTY.  Andrew is the musical director for Kristin Chenoweth, and recently conducted a concert with her at the MET. 

Logan Lipton (03) recently completed a long run on Broadway in WICKED playing Boq, a role which he also played in the national tour.  Last summer he played Leaf Coneybear in THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE at the Weston Playhouse in Vermont.

Kate Loprest (05) is currently on Broadway in Frank Wildhorn’s WONDERLAND.  Kate toured recently in a featured role in the national tour of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRARIE.  Kate played Amber on Broadway in HAIRSPRAY.  She completed a long run in the Chicago company of WICKED, understudying Glenda, a role she performed numerous times.  Kate appeared in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE on Broadway, as well as in XANADU.  

Michael Lowney (08) was recently on Broadway in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES.

Jody Madaras (93) recently finished a long run in the national tour of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE.  Jody played Bobby Childs in CRAZY FOR YOU at the Phoenix Theatre in Phoenix, AZ.  Last winter he played Phil Davis in WHITE CHRISTMAS, a role he also played last year in Virginia Beach, VA, at the Virginia Musical Theatre. 

Anne Markt (10) is in THE FANTASTICS off-Broadway.

Paul Martinez (87) performed last fall in the premiere of Stephen Schwartz’s opera SÉANCE ON A WET AFTERNOON at Opera Santa Barbara.  He played Bun Foo in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE at Drury Lane Oakbrook (near Chicago) last fall.

Cara Massey (07) was in the new production of OKLAHOMA! at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., directed by Molly Smith.  Cara was on Broadway in LEGALLY BLONDE, as well as the national tour.

Brian Mazzaferri (06) is the lead singer and songwriter for the rock band “I Hate Dragons,” which has just signed with Atlantic Records, and will be touring nationally.

Garen McRoberts (08) recently toured in the national tour of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRARIE. 

Andy Mientus was in the national tour of SPRING AWAKENING in the role of Hanschen.

Eric Millegan (95) played Zach Addy in the Fox TV series BONES.  He played the title character opposite Oscar-winner Estelle Parsons in the world premiere of the musical HAROLD AND MAUDE at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey.

 

Justin Miller (01) is touring in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and has also appeared in PHANTOM… in Las Vegas.  Before that he was in KISMET in the City Center Encores series, and performed in Germany and Austria in PORGY AND BESS.  Last fall he performed in PORGY AND BESS with the Chicago Lyric Opera.

Lauren Molina (03) won a Helen Hayes Award for playing Cunegonde in a new production of CANDIDE directed by Mary Zimmerman in Washington D.C., and at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago.  Lauren was in the original cast of ROCK OF AGES on Broadway.  Lauren starred on Broadway in the revival of SWEENEY TODD as Johanna, a role which she played in the national tour.

Sydney Morton (08) is on Broadway in MEMPHIS.  Sydney recently played Gabriella in HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey.

Jesse Nager (03) toured in XANADU and was in ONCE ON THIS ISLAND last fall in the LA Reprise series.  Jesse had a long run on Broadway in MARY POPPINS.   He was also on Broadway in GOOD VIBRATIONS and MAMMA MIA, as well as in Andrew Lippa’s new musical THE LITTLE PRINCESS at Theatreworks in Palo Alto, CA.

Mara Newbery (07) is in the national tour of SHREK.  Mara appeared in several recent productions at North Show Music Theatre (Beverly, MA):  BYE, BYE BIRDIE and as Annie in 42ND STREET.

Keewa Nurullah (09) played Lola Folana in the new musical SAMMY based on the life of Sammy Davis, Jr., at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. 

Brynn O’Malley (03) recently toured in WICKED.  She recently played the Baker’s Wife in INTO THE WOODS at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and the Kansas City Repertory Theatre.  Brynn was on Broadway last winter in WICKED.  Brynn played Celeste and was the Dot understudy in the Broadway revival of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE.  She recently completed a long run as Kate Monster in AVENUE Q in the Las Vegas production, as well as Broadway’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Belle understudy).  She recently played Amalia in SHE LOVES ME at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., for which she received a Helen Hayes Award nomination as Best Actress in a Musical.  She also played Amber in the Broadway production of HAIRSPRAY.

Shina Morris (08) is on Broadway in ANYTHING GOES.  Shina played Consuela in the Broadway revival of WEST SIDE STORY, produced by another Michigan graduate, Jeffrey Seller.

Kevin Munhall (10) is on Broadway in ANYTHING GOES.  Kevin was in the Encores BELLS ARE RINGING. 

Perry Ojeda (89) was in SAMMY at the Old Globe Theatre last fall, playing Eddie Cantor.  Perry recently played Cliff in CABARET at the Sacramento Music Circus.   Perry was in the LA Reprise production of FLORA THE RED MENACE.

Susan Owen (93) has played Christine (alternate) in the Broadway production of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, a role which she also played in the national tour.

Benj Pasek (06) and Justin Paul (06) won the 2011 Richard Rodgers Award for their new musical DOGFIGHT, and the 2007 Jonathan Larson Award for New Writers in the Musical Theatre.  They have written the scores for two new musicals, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, presented this fall at the Goodspeed Opera House, and A CHRISTMAS STORY, which premiered at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in Seattle.  Their work was featured in the Disney series JOHNNY AND THE SPRITES.  Their musical EDGES (which premiered in Ann Arbor at the Kerrytown Concert House) was added to the catalog of Music Theatre International (MTI).  Justin was the musical director/conductor for the off-Broadway hit ALTAR BOYZ.

Alex Puette (09) is in the national tour of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.  Alex was recently in the national tour of LEGALLY BLONDE.

John Rapson (09) is in the 25th Anniversary tour of LES MISERABLES.  John was recently in SWEENEY TODD at the Barrington Stage Company.

Matthew Rego (92), with the Araca Group, is one of the producers of WICKED, ROCK OF AGES and IN THE HEIGHTS.   He also produced the Tony Award-winning URINETOWN.

Dan Reichard (00) created the role of Bob Gaudio in JERSEY BOYS, both on Broadway and at the La Jolla Playhouse.  He played Candide in the New York City Opera production of CANDIDE, and is in the film production of FOREVER PLAID.

Corbin Reid (09) is currently on Broadway in SISTER ACT.  She was recently in AMERICAN IDIOT, after touring in XANADU.  

Megan Reinking (03) is in the HBO series BOARDWALK EMPIRE.  She was in HAIR in London, after a long run on Broadway. 

David Reiser (02) is currently on tour in MAMMA, MIA.

Josh Rhodes (93) choreographed the recent concert production of COMPANY with the New York Philharmonic.   Josh choreoraphed THEY’RE PLAYING OUR SONG with Jason Alexander at the Reprise Theatre Company in Los Angeles.  Josh choreographed and directed JOSEPH/DREAMCOAT last summer at Casa Manana in Ft. Worth, and he choreographed WORKING at the Asolo Theatre in Sarasota, and at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, as well as 1776 at the Paper Mill Playhouse.  Josh recently completed a long run in the Broadway revival of CHICAGO. Josh was the assistant choreographer for THE DROWSY CHAPERONE on Broadway, on tour, and in London.  His other Broadway credits include BELLS ARE RINGING, URBAN COWBOY and THE BOY FROM OZ. 

Rob Rokicki (01) recently completed a lengthy run in the national tour of EVITA, directed by Hal Prince.

Natalie Ross (02) performed recently at the Sacramento Music Circus in THE SOUND OF MUSIC and MY FAIR LADY, the latter directed by another UM grad, Marcia Milgrom Dodge.  Natalie recently completed a long tour in EVITA.

Josh Rouah (07) is currently on Broadway in WICKED.  Josh was in the national tour of SOUTH PACIFIC.  He was recently on Broadway in GREASE, understudying Danny Zuko.  Last spring he played Chris in MISS SAIGON at the Pioneer Theatre in Salt Lake City. 

Gavi Savit (10) appeared in THE STUDENT PRINCE this summer at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. 

Paul Schaefer (01) is on Broadway in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, in the ensemble and playing Raoul.

Darryl Semira (01) was in the national tour of SPAMALOT for many years, conducted by Michigan graduate Ben Whiteley.  His Broadway credits include MAMMA, MIA and BOMBAY DREAMS.

Jose Sepulveda (09) is playing Juan in the national tour of ALTAR BOYZ. 

Jen Sese (06) was recently on Broadway in HAIR.  Before that she played Lisa in MAMMA MIA! In Las Vegas.  Jen completed a long run as  Marcy Park in the Chicago company of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE. 

Erika Shannon (98) is in the national tour of ROCK OF AGES.

A.J. Shiveley (08) played Jean-Michel in the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES starring Kelsey Grammer. 

Tara Siesener (03) was the standby for Tracy Turnblad in the Las Vegas production of HAIRSPRAY.  She was in the Kennedy Center revival of CARNIVAL.

Alexis Sims (05) performed recently in Cirque du Soliel’s BANANA SHPEEL, both in Chicago and in New York.  Alexis was in THE 60’S PROJECT at the Goodspeed Opera House, as well as FINIAN’S RAINBOW at the Walnut Street Theatre and DREAMGIRLS at the Prince Music Theatre, both in Philadelphia.

Kendal Sparks (09) was in the City Center Encores WHERE’S CHARLEY.

Dani Spieler (07) is in the national tour of WEST SIDE STORY.  Dani recently finished a long run on Broadway in LEGALLY BLONDE.   Last fall she performed in Houston’s Theatre Under the Stars production of MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS.

Brian Spitulnik (05) is currently a swing in the Broadway production of CHICAGO, and is completing a graduate degree in English at Columbia University.

Eddie Sugarman (94) received the 2006 Jonathan Larson Award, recognizing excellence in musical theatre writing.  His musical MEET JOHN DOE was presented at the Goodspeed Opera House (Connecticut) and at the Ford’s Theatre (Washington, D.C.).

Cary Tedder (09) is in the national tour of WEST SIDE STORY.  Cary was in MEMPHIS on Broadway.  He was in THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN,’ directed and choreographed by Twyla Tharp, during his junior year at Michigan.

Jennifer Thompson (91) recently starred in LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE at the LaJolla Playhouse.  Jennifer co-starred recently with Anthony LaPaglia and Tony Shalhoub in the Broadway revival of Ken Ludwig's LEND ME A TENOR directed by Stanley Tucci.   Jennifer starred on Broadway in FOOTLOOSE, URINETOWN (Tony nomination), and WICKED (Glinda).

Matt Toronto (98) is on the faculty of Penn State University, teaching theatre and musical theatre courses.

Toni Trucks (03) recently was featured in STORMY WEATHER with Leslie Uggams at the Pasadena Playhouse.   She has a featured role in STARSTRUCK on the Disney Channel.

Brad Whitfield (00) is in the national tour of MAMMA MIA. 

Jake Wilson (07) is the creator and star of the online series THE BATTERY’S DOWN.  He recently appeared in HAIR at the Arizona Theatre Company, and in HAIRSPRAY at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey.

Amos Wolff (08) is in FOLLIES at the Kennedy Center.   He recently completed a long run in the national tour of A CHORUS LINE.   Last summer he was in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN at the Goodspeed Opera House in Connecticut.

Cortney Wolfson (07) is on Broadway in THE ADDAMS FAMILY.  She played Serena in the national tour of LEGALLY BLONDE.  Countney was in the Broadway company of LES MISERABLES, understudying Eponine. 

Helene Yorke (07) played Glinda in the national tour of WICKED.  Recently on Broadway she played Marty in GREASE and before that was Sharpay in the national tour of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.
