Javanese Gamelan

The Javanese gamelan at the University of Michigan meets on Thursdays 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. (beginners) and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (advanced). Both courses can be taken for credit, and new players are always welcome! For more information, contact Dr. Susan Walton.

 

Arab Music

The Michigan Arab Orchestra at the University of Michigan is directed by Michael Ibrahim. Please see here for a clip from one of their concerts. Korean Music

The Korean music ensemble at the University of Michigan is called Sinaboro.

 

Philippine Music

The Philippine kulintang ensemble and Philippine rondalla at UM is collectively called Noraysa and is open to all students. For more information, contact M. Antonette Aidova.

 

Dance

The Dance Department offers excellent courses in Afro-Caribbean dance, world dance forms, and Congolese dancing and drumming.
