Bachelor of Fine Arts
This degree is intended for those who wish to work as performers and choreographers with an emphasis in modern dance.
Pre-College Dance Preparation
Significant involvement in dance performance and choreography is recommended.

Dance Requirements
- Seventy-seven credit hours of dance including the following:
- Twenty hours of modern dance technique
- Twelve hours of ballet and eight hours of dance composition
- Eight hours of dance repertory
- Six hours of dance history
- Two hours each of dance production, Dance & Related Arts, Body Knowledge and Music for Dance
- Three hours each of Teaching Methods
- Anatomy and Kinesiology for Dancers
- World Dance
- A senior seminar and senior concert; and electives.
Music Requirements
- Six hours elected in Musicology, Music Theory, Composition or Performance
Non-Music Requirements
Thirty hours of non-Music (liberal arts) coursework including:
- the University’s two semester English writing requirement
- One course in Art History
- Nineteen credit hours of non-dance electives.
Electives
- Seven (dance or non-dance) to complete a total of 120 hours
