Orchestras

All students who receive School of Music, Theatre & Dance merit-based scholarships are required to participate each semester in one of the ensembles marked with an asterisk (*) or for some jazz degrees (**); doctoral students are exempt.

 

* University Symphony Orchestra 2 credits.
  • Open to all, but not recommended for non-music majors because of the extensive rehearsals and performances.
  • Placement by audition - most selective orchestra. Single screened audition for both this and Philharmonia Orchestra. 
  • Fall 2014 Audition Schedule and Repertoire TBA
  • Rehearses MWF 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Rehearsal Hall

Contemporary Directions Ensemble 1-2 credits.
  • Primarily comprised of music majors
  • This ensemble performs contemporary classical music in a variety of instrumentations, from solo works to chamber orchestra.¬† Participation is by permission of the instructor, through recommendation from applied faculty.
  • Rehearses TuTh¬† 12:30-2:30 pm, Rehearsal Hall (1320) in the Moore Building

Campus Philharmonia Orchestra 1 credit.

 

 

Campus Symphony Orchestra 1 credit.
