Alumni Awards

The Alumni Society gives out four different awards to alumni, faculty and friends of the School of Music, Theatre & Dance annually. Nominations are accepted during the summer, awarding decisions are made in the fall semester, and the winners are announced in the winter semester. All winners are invited back to Ann Arbor over Homecoming Weekend to accept their awards.

The Hall of Fame was established to recognize and honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to society, their profession, the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance, or one of its units, or to the School of Music, Theatre & Dance Alumni Society. Alumni, faculty, and friends of SMTD may make nominations.

The Emerging Artist Award recognizes alumni within the past 15 years of graduation who have made significant contributions in their artistic field and the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Awards are presented in three categories: music, theatre, and dance. Alumni, faculty, and friends of SMTD may make nominations.

The Paul Boylan Award recognizes alumni within the past 10 years of graduation who have made significant contributions in their artistic field and the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Only SMTD faculty may make nominations.
