The School of Music, Theatre & Dance enjoys extraordinarily fine and complete facilities. Its headquarters are in the Earl V. Moore Building, designed by Eero Saarinen, completed in 1964 and located in a park-like setting on the University's beautiful North Campus. It contains two rehearsal/concert halls, 45 performance teaching studios, 18 classrooms, 40 offices, a large library, 120 practice rooms, including 12 organ practice rooms, and other special facilities for piano, harp, harpsichord and percussion practice. It is one of the most handsome and functional buildings on campus. In 1985, the Margaret Dow Towsley Center (a significant addition to the Moore building) was dedicated. It contains a splendid organ studio, the McIntosh Theatre and exhibition space for the Stearns Collection of Musical Instruments.
