New Titles Added to Block M Catalogue

December 2010

Block M Records, the U-M label, announces new titles added to its collection, all of which will soon be available in the iTunes music store. They include cello works by Anthony Elliott and Paul Dwyer; new recordings by double bassist Diana Gannett; pianist Arthur Greene and his students; bassoonist Jeffrey Lyman; trumpet works by jazz and improvisation faculty member Mark Kirschenmann; The Women’s Glee Club under the baton of Julie Skadsem; ensemble work with Joseph Gramley, percussionist, and colleagues; and selected works by students from the New Music on the Block annual competitions.

In 2011, Block M Records will initiate a pilot dissemination program through ReverbNation, a digital distribution service, that will extend availability to iTunes international and to other Internet distributors like Spotify, Amazon Mp3, MySpace Music, Get Green Music, InMotion Entertainment, Secure Media, Wal-Mart, Pandora, Nokia, etc. The initial plan is to pilot works from the New Music on the Block competition from 2006, 2007, and 2008, to see if this varied repertoire by SMTD students will benefit from increased market exposure before possibly expanding other albums in the Block M Records catalogue.
