Dance Students to Share Bill with Paul Taylor Dance Company
October 2010
On Saturday, October 9, in a 1:00 p.m. Family Performance at the Power Center for the Performing Arts, U-M dance students will reprise Paul Taylor’s Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rehearsal), first restaged as part of their Power Center concert in February 2010, this time on a double bill with the Paul Taylor Dance Company, the first time ever a student group has shared a stage with the Taylor company.
Dance chair Angela Kane and Paul Taylor Dance Company historian will participate in two panel discussions, first on Wednesday, October 6, at 7:00 p.m. in the Helmut Stern Auditorium at the UM Museum of Art, on American Dance Legacies: Paul Taylor Across the Decades (free event). Then on Friday, October 8, prior to the PTDC’s 8:00 performance, Kane will lead a panel discussion, 6:45 p.m. in the Power Center Green Room, entitled Then and Now: Restaging/Reviving Paul Taylor. The panel will include Taylor alumni Dan Wagoner, Bettie de Jong, Eileen Cropley, and Andy LeBeau; the London Financial Times dance critic Clement Crisp, and Judy Rice, U-M dance faculty member and restaging assistant for the October 9 Le Sacre performance.
