October 2010

On Wednesday, October 13, at 8:00 p.m. in Hill Auditorium, the University Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kenneth Kiesler, will perform the world premiere of a new work for orchestra by faculty composer Evan Chambers, entitled Kairos, commissioned by the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association in honor of the late Elizabeth Green, noted pedagogue, musician, author, and former member of the SMTD faculty, beloved by generations of students. Also on the bill of fare that night is Bartok’s second piano concerto, featuring Brian Hsu, 2010 concerto competition winner, and Brahms’ expressive Second Symphony.
