Dept. of Theatre students to perform at Kennedy Center

April 2008

The Department of Theatre & Drama has been asked to conceive and create a one-hour performance of "Shakespeare's Clowns" with acting students to be presented in the Kennedy Center Family Theatre on May 9 and 10, 2008.  Under the title of "Quick Comedians and Changeable Taffeta," the production will be directed by Professor Malcolm Tulip.

The Shakespeare Project utilizes three established Kennedy Center Education programs—Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), Millennium Stage, and ArtsEdge—to bring new productions of classic Shakespeare works to the stage and the web. Under the artistic direction of the Education Department's Gregg Henry, the program commissions colleges and universities to produce condensed versions of Shakespeare's plays to be performed for the stage with the goal of eventually capturing the Bard's complete canon. The productions will be filmed and a live broadcast will be on the Kennedy Center website.
