Block M Records congratulates the winners of the 2007 Block M Records "New Music on the Block" competition:

The annual New Music on the Block competition celebrates student creativity in the arts by promoting new musical works composed, performed, recorded and produced by Univeristy of Michigan students.

Block M Records will present this year's winners in concert at 8 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the James and Anne Duderstadt Center Video Studio, located on the University of Michigan's north campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

The winners are also slated to record in the University's state-of-the-art Audio Studio, also located at the Duderstadt Center, for release on the Block M Records label in the iTunes Music Store.

Block M Records is a University of Michigan organization that promotes the vitality, diversity, and artistic excellence of the University of Michigan through recording, production, and dissemination of musical compositions and performances by its faculty, staff and students.

Block M Records is managed by the School of Music, Theatre & Dance with the generous support and guidance of the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Office of the Provost, the Division of Research Development and Administration, the James and Anne Duderstadt Center, the Office of Tech Transfer, and the Scholarly Publishing Office of the University Library. Block M Records is a subsidiary of the Internet Publication Project – a campus-wide collaborative research program that explores the convergence of multiple technologies to support web-based publication of media-rich scholarly and creative research.
