September 2010
Kenneth Kiesler, Director of University Orchestras, Evan Chambers, composer, and Midori Koga, Canadian pianist will join forces at Kerrytown Concert House on Sunday, September 12, 7:30 p.m., to celebrate the release of The Old Burying Ground, Chambers' orchestral song-cycle that was premiered in Ann Arbor at Hill Auditorium by the University Symphony Orchestra and later performed at Carnegie Hall by the USO. This memorable and moving work features musical settings of centuries-old epitaphs from two New England cemeteries, interspersed with readings by five award-winning poets. Kiesler and Chambers will present selections from the CD with Koga and pianist Suzanne Camino, while poets Thomas Lynch and Keith Taylor read from their work.
