UMS and U-M School of Music Raise More Than $15,000 for Hurricane Katrina Survivors
ANN ARBOR (September 12, 2005) — At a free concert co-presented by the University of Michigan School of Music and the University Musical Society at the Power Center yesterday, $15,058 was raised to benefit survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Fifty-two performers, including faculty and students from the U-M School of Music participated in the two-hour concert, performing everything from New Orleans Jazz to poetry readings, tap dance, Bach, and compositions by Biloxi-native Logan Skelton.
Of the amount collected, $7,713 will go to the American Red Cross; $3,943 to America’s Second Harvest; and $3,402 to the Humane Society of the United States.
UMS and the U-M School of Music would like to acknowledge those who gave generously of their time and money to make the benefit concert a success.

Admission is Free. Donations will be accepted.
EVENT: Faculty and students from U-M's School of Music will perform a program of music from and about New Orleans and the Mississippi and Louisiana Gulf Coast.
BENEFICIARIES: Cash donations and checks will be accepted, with contributions distributed among the American Red Cross, Second Harvest, and the National Humane Society.
